Sympathies - but congrats on taking control and moving forward.

They do have contractors you need - you just need the magic category for Search the List.

If you want someone to help sort the stuff out and segregate junk from keepers, then a Home Organizer (or is it Organizer) is what you need first. Then for hauling off the junk, a Trash Removal contractor - under Trash Removall or Hauling. During the trash removal you might want him to move some stuff to the garage or wherever for pickup by Salvation Army or Goodwill or whoever you choose, for the usable stuff. They will pick up for free, but usually do not do stairs.

Very sorry to hear of your loss as well.

There are companies that do haul away debris and will help de-clutter a home.

Hopefully there is a window in the attic and that will expedite the debris removal.

Best of luck and be sure not to throw away anything in the process that might have personal value.

BTW - if you use a home organizer, you may not need a trash removal contractor if the two of you can get the stuff into a dumpster. Renting a dumpster is not real expensive - depending on size, from less than $100 per fill to a few hundred a month, including the dump fee. Come from 3 to 40 cubic yards typically - you would probably be looking at 10 to 20cy size - of course, they can always replace it with an empty if you mis-estimate. Typically give you one or two weeks on-site time included in rental fee. They can lay it down near the house, or even right under a window sometimes, and you fill to your heart's content (just make sure you do not over-weight it if dumping out heavy stuff like magazines), then haul it off typically on less than a day's notice, replacing it with another if you want.
