Why the emphasis by the contractors offering 'deals' for UP-SELLS

I've bought and used several 'DEALS' and have noticed (along with many reviewers) that the work is quick and incomplete as the Contractor needs to Up-sell his service.
I bought a deal for one hour electrical work. I needed him to install a ceiling light. When he arrived he didn't have any tools specifically screws, and I was informed that the 1 hour clock was ticking. I had to run to home-depot to get some screws!!!

That is one of the problems with Deals and Coupons and such - hate to burst your bubble, but they do NOT issue those just to be nice to customers - they are either needing additional business (like in a slow season), want to enlarge the customer base or push competition out of business, are pushing a particular service or product (maybe a new one or manufacturer co-promotion), or are using the offer as a come-on to upsell the job.

So - caveat emptor - which translates as something like "buyer beware" or in some early Latiin translations "empty promise" - or how about "there is a sucker born every minute" as PT Barnum is credited with saying. And be aware that i there is not a meeting of the minds on scope of work or what the deal covers, there is no contract - so you can send him away and demand a refund from AL.

BTW - in pretty much all cases, all the screws and attachment plates and such you needed should have been in the box with the light fixture.
