Question DetailsAsked on 12/3/2015

Why does the inside of my car keep freezing up in cold weather?

It is a 2005 Mazda 6 with an aftermarket moon/sun roof. I paid for it to be fixed in January 2014 and recently again on October 03 2015 and it still leaks water on the inside from rain and freezes on the inside if the weather is cold enough.

Moon/sun roofs that do not sit well up above the roof level (so can drain out of the seal to the top of the roof) should have a drain channel and drain tube that goes down between the roof and the headliner, and exits at the bottom of a side panel or under the car. Maybe your brand was not well designed to handle the water on the window, drain tube is blocked, or never had one. You would have to go to an auto body specialty shop to see if they can figure out a way to make it drain right - or they may say it is a hopeless case and to just seal the window up so it does not open.

Also - if leaking and freezing, what is happening when it is above freezing - saturating the headliner ? Which would presumably eventually lead to mildew/mold as well as possible electrical issues depending on where the water drains to ?
