Why did it take so long for my insur adjuster to finish his part of the scope, and why is there a big cost diff?
I had a recent house fire in the downstairs of my split-entry home that gutted the recroom, most of the wash room and caused severe smoke damage thoughout the house. After the fire I contacted my insurance co. who sent out an adjuster, I also contacted a contractor who has an excellent reputation in town for restoration and specializes in insurance claim work. Both parties showed up on the same day, the estimator and adjuster seem to hit off, went through the house together with their lap tops and pointing out thing together, it looked promising. Within a week or so I had the contractors scope of $109,000 but not the adjusters. After a month plus multiple calls and emails by both me and the contractor to the insurance co, we finially got their scope, the insurance came in at $89,000 and sent me a check for $63,700, something about recoverable depreciation. The effected parts are down to the studs, The check has been sent to the mortgage co, who will disperse payment Should I panic?
