Why was my review allowed to change? I posted two reviews and both were changed without my knowledge or permission

I posted two review this spring. One was very negative and one was positive. The negative one disappeared and I later found that the name had been changed and the address had also been changed. The positive one was also changed as the company name was removed and the lowlife business owner from the negative had his partner's name put on that review.

I am very discouraged that Angies List allows this behavior. You have allowed a business which ripped me off on a $120,000 job to remove their name from a bad report and put their name on a good one. COMPLETELY MISLEADING ANY POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS.

You need to contact Angie's List customer service about this - it sounds like the vendor might have spoofed your eMail or called pretenting to be you, and changed the information in the reviews as updates without your permission. I would certainly hope Angie's List personnel were not party to this, which would be fraud and conspiracy to tamper with business records if it was done, a federal crime.

You need to discusss this with Angie's List customer service - it will help ann awful lot if you have the actual review information at question, including the review id numbers from the URL in the address for the reviews.

Thank you Kiel for your answer, but I will ASSURE you I am not the one who made the change. I contacted customer support and they are reviewing how it got changed, but the fact is there is a hole in the system somewhere because this person/company somehow changed two reviews and nobody there seems to know how it happened.

My guess is that Angies List contacted the company, hoping to get memberships fees from them. When they heard aout the negative review they probably told the salesperson the names were "wrong" and had them make the changes. It is shameful. This company was allowed to remove a negative report (their name doesn't even show up in a search) and alter another company's positive report so that it looked like them (they put one of the partner's names on the report).

This effectively misleads consumers two ways. It makes them look SIGNIFICANTLY better and removes a positive report from another contractor.

It also makes Angies List look bad. This fraudulent behavior here makes me wonder how often this type of thhing occurs on this web site.

It is free for a company to add their business to our list and we don't solicit memberships to business owners. From what I can tell, it appears that the business with the negative review is currently excluded from the list due to an invalid phone number. If there is incorrect contact information, they are excluded so that people that view the list aren't calling disconnected phone numbers.

If you have an updated phone number for the business, I would advise contacting member services with that information so that they can have everything updated.

I apologize for the frustrations you've had with your reviews and hope that you can get a quick and satisfactory resolution.
