There are VERY few home-visit auto repairmen these days, mostly because labor costs have gone way up, and with newer cars there are few engine problems you can even diagnose without access to the shop computerized diagnosis tools.

If your problem is a dead battery (just clicks when you turn the key to start, or no noise at all when you try to start and headlights are dim or no light at all), then a towing service can jump start the car for you, though if your battery is defective or shot or alternator failed it might just die and not restart again at your first stop.

If engine cranks but won't start (and gas gauge does not read empty) then figure out where you want to send it to be fixed if not under warranty (Search the List in green banner bar for local shops and reviews), then call the shop and ask if they provide free towing - many do if the car is coming in for repair.

Of course, if you belong to AAA or similar towing service, then call them for towing to the shop.
