Here is a prior response on this issue:

It can run from a simple $100-150 if it the valve you are talking about is inside the house,, readily accessible, has at least about 4-6 inches free straight pipe on the inlet side to reconnect to if corroded, and there is a shutoff on the meter outside or a shutoff in a valve box the plumber can access o turn off the water. If you have to have the water company turn off the key box (street shutoff to your house) typically around $70-100 extra for shutoff and turning back on when ready, but I have seen as high as $250 in large cities.

If the shutoff valve is deeply buried (probably about 4 feet in NJ), then can run as much as about $500-600 to dig it up and replace it.
