Here is a link to a survey of 10 best ones that might be of interest -

Consumer reportts also periodically has a survey.

From my experience, I have seen LiftMaster and Clopay last a long time - my Clopay is 31 years old an zero maintenance other than cleaning and lubrication every couple of years. Genie appears to be susceptible to electronic problems, and I have seen several Craftsmen models break the main gear shaft - they have a TINY shaft - amazing it works for even a week.

You don't say how it stopped working - could just be a limit switch stuck, a spider web or dust ball across the safety sensor, need lubrication of the chain or track, etc - I think I would have a garage door repairman look at it first ($60 visit charge in our area) - you might get it fixed for a total of $100-125 or so, rather than $300 plus for a new one installed cost.

I would also disconnect the opener (usually a pull rope that disconnects the door lift bracket from the chain or belt) and see if you can open the door by hand easily. If not, check for jammed rollers, broken lift springs, crudded up track, something jammed in roller guides, etc. No need replacing an opener if you don't need to.
