    Personally I would not, unless it is electronic control. Most reefers last 20-30 years without maintenance, as long as you clean the coils and fans underneath once a year and do not block the fan vents. If you have an icemaker maybe more likely to cause problems, though most of their problems can be solved by a homeowner with a bit of knowledge and the manual.

    Electronic controlled household devices - whole different story, as they seem to be designed and built so as to maximize failure probability, and in MANY cases use less reliable electronics or needless sensors where the mechanical or thermo-mechanical devices in older models worked perfectly well.
