Question DetailsAsked on 7/9/2012

can you please recommend what i can do about roofers who put a new roof on my home in georgia in 2010 and began leaking within weeks.

This roofing company is called "Top 2 Bottom Roofing" located in the state of Georgia. I would highly suggest that anyone thinking of doing business with them -DO NOT- they are thieves and they do not return phone calls. I payed over $10,000 and I am completely disgusted by their lack of professionalism. Top 2 Bottom knows that they did a poor job on my roof. I don't have anymore money to invest in another new roof. You would think that once I contacted them that the problem would have been rectified immediately. It was not, nor have they returned my calls. PLEASE HELP!!!

My first piece of advise is to edit your question because YOU can be sued. I understand you are frustrated but what you said may be considered slanderous.

Let me ask you was this roof replacement insurance related, or did you pay out of pocket?

When did they put on the roof? When did it first start leaking? When did you call them?

You may possibly be able to file a claim on their insurance. Please tell me you got a copy of their certificate of insurance when you contracted with them.

I would encourage you to write a letter and send it certified mail. Send it to the address you have on file as well as any other addresses you may find on the internet (do a google search). I would inform them that the roof is leaking and still under warranty and they have X days to fix it. If not fixed within X days, you will contract with someone else to fix it back charge them the cost, plus legal expenses for breech of contract ie: not honoring their warranty.

(after my letter went unanswered) I would call them up until I managed to speak with someone. I would be sitting in my car with the key in the ignition. When I was able to speak with someone I would open the door so they could hear the audible ding ding ding that you hear when the key is in the ignition. I would inform them that I'm about to go to my lawyer's office after I hang up the phone if they promise right now to have this problem fixed no later than by the end of today. If I was feeling really brave I would go to their office and do it in person.

I would contact my lawyer. I would write a negative review on Angies List. I would be very particular about my words so as not to open myself up to slander litigation. I would write negative reviews on google local, on the BBB, on Yelp, on Yahoo local. I would do a google search and every where the company name came up I would write a negative review.

The review would state facts only and not state any opinions or suggestions of "don't hire them" It would say top 2 bottom was contracted to replace my roof in June of 2010 (for example). In July of 2010 the roof began leaking and I notified top 2 bottom by phone. As of today my roof is still leaking and after numerous attempts by phone and mail have received no word.

Chances are likely you won't need a whole new roof, but it sucks to be in the position that you are in. Sorry to hear it :(
