If you like endlessly fighting with your computer, lots of opportunity to curse at it, and want endless upgrade compatibility and virus problems and crashes daily or more often with archaic user interfaces, you cannot beat a Dell or Gateway or HP Windows model. My daughter, I am ashamed to say (this makes her the black sheep of the family) has had very good luck with HP laptops.

If for some odd reason you want virtual immunity from viruses, very high operating stability, the ability to run Windows-only programs if necessary (with a Windows partition), and a user-friendly operating system that just plain works and makes sense without being a pain in the neck, then get an Apple Macintosh. If you need a laptop then a MacBook or Air, if you don't need a laptop then a MacMini - takes up only about 7 square inches on your desk, and can run with almost any make digital monitor of whatever size you want, so you are not paying for an expensive screen that you probably don't need every time you upgrade to a new computer.

While I would agree they are overpriced...I am a Mac convert.

I haven't used a new PC in quite some time and I know they have come a long way.

I am just too used to Macs at this point and they are great machines.

I had my last MacBook for 7 years. Who can say that about their PC laptop?

sorry i disagree......

i have seen so many problems with "HP" computers!!!

printers seem to be ok made by hp wife has been through so many printers and is still fighting with them while i am not! its weired but its that case for me....

if you want a good desktop computer then get a DELL!!!!!!

they arent overpriced, they offer great deals on monthly payments!

they are totally customizable!

i have had the same dell computer since 2005! and it still works. i have had to reboot it to factory once about 4 years ago when it had a hard virus becasue i kinda didnt have any virus protection but.....for an almost 10 year old computer it runs pretty darn good!

hope this helps......and good luck! :)
