    Hi Melanie,

We're actually hard at work on compiling some sample contracts for our members to use as a resource. Please continue to check the Angie's List Magazine and website for updates. One thing we always recommend is to never sign a contract that contains blank spaces. Here are some other tips for hiring contractors.

    I hope that helps some.

Most contracts that contractors will use are provided from their trade association. If that is the case, contract the trade association and ask if they are still an active member and find out when their expiration date is. Often, the association will not back the contract if the member is no longer active.

Also, make sure you have two copies that are both signed with both sets of signatures.

Read it carefully and make sure there are no attachments.
