cost of installing a 50 gallon water heater with power vent?

The current one needs to be replaced and they want to power vent it.

If the currennt one is not power vented and did not have flue problems, I am not clear why they want to power vent the new one - just one more thing to fail, plus will have to have electric power wired to it.

Power venting adds about $400-500 to the heater cost (on top of the normal $500 range), plus about $200-300 for the wiring, plus normal $250-400 installation cost would bring your total to around $1450-1700 range.
