does the business get any of the money paid for the service?

I paid for house cleaning. The provider called and said she does not receive any of the money I paid for the service. Is this true?

Let me get this right - they offer a Deal, AL takes the payment for it, the vendor does the work, and gets nothing for it ? Why does this not sound quite right ? Or else one of the most lucrative scams ever !

AL does take an advertising cut on Deals, which are supposed to be priced at a substantial discount over standard pricing for the customer. Saw vendor comments where it said AL gets 20%, another said 10% of the Deal amount - don't know if that was one case or a general rule. Did not say what happens to the money from Deals that are sold but the work never done (so vendor never paid any of it) and not refunded to the customer within the 30 day refund period - slush fund maybe, or pure profit to AL ?

Hi,

This is Brendon M. in Member Care and I would be happy to answer this question. Yes. The serivce provider gets paid from every deal they sell. Our friend LCD is correct in that we do take a cut of the payment, but in no way is 100% cut.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if I can assist further. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at memberservices@angieslist.com. We're happy to help!
