When the check engine light comes on, it could be anything from a loose or leaky gas cap to poor connection to wires around the engine. If it's a serious problem the oil pressure warning should also come on. however, the dealer can plug in their computer and find out what caused the problem.

The only problem with this is that the dealer will charge you somewhere around a hundred dollars to plug in their darn computer.
