Question DetailsAsked on 9/24/2011

had a BAD new blacktop job.4 ft of it around brick border is bumpy & raised. Is there a less exp way to fix rather then picking it up&redo?

NON Angies List contractor did job. Should have asked your help!
The 4 feet around brick is VERY obvious and horribly done. He patched it up
all around and it is VERY bumpy & uneven.

New guy wants either to pick up all new area (done in August 2011) and redo this one side of blacktop (previoiusly was my lawn).

In the alternative he wants to go over NEW area making it higher/thicker and then continue on with the blacktop over my Old existing perfect (grey natural) blacktop 2 car garage done 20 years ago to match the 2 colors.

Very expensive quotes. Do i have to pick up and redo all NEW blacktop?
Is there another way to even out? or Do i have to pickup New area and
redo? and, next year when the oils are out of NEW blacktop can I just seal-
coat both to match!!!! NOW...what a job... should have used
Angies List. See what happens when you don't ask ANGIE LIST!!!

This is not an area where I am particularly expert in, but here is what I think. There is no way to repair without replacement. The repair contractor should be able to replace the bad section alone, but not exactly match the color. An oil coat should be able to better match the colors. Check with other contractors.
