Going to cost $2-3,000 for the heat pump itself, depending on where it is bought, and if at wholesale or retail cost.

Installation, assuming your entire rest of the system is compatible, about $1000-1500. If your existing system is Freon based, then most likely your lines and exchangers will need replacement too (because run to differnet flow rates and pressure), so total installation in that case goes up to about $4-7,000, depending on how easy line replacement is and how many air exchange units you have.

I noted, while using this response as a reference for another related question, that I said " so total installation in that case goes up to about $4-7,000" - I did not mean "installation cost" there, but rather cost of the total unit, installed cost. Sorry about the poor semantics.
