how can I hang plants and decorative items from my Hardee Plank siding

I would like to hang plants and plaques from my outdoor Hardee Plank siding. The only hooks I find are for vinyl siding.

No-hole siding clips that are designed to slip up under the siding and hook on the top edge of the piece below should generally work for Hardee Plank too. Bear in mind the following things:

1) They accumulate dirt and, if metal, will eventually corrode or rust, so it you remove them there will probably be a permanent stain where you had them.

2) If the hanger does not project well away from the wall, spillage and such from the plant watering will stain the siding below the hander

3) whatever you hang there will shade the siding, so if you later remove it there will be a "shadow" on the paint where the sun fading is less. Therefore, for future resale value I would recommend planning on leaving whatever is hanging there in place forever.

4) Depending on the hanger design, you may not be able to get it back out without breaking the siding plank. The kind that are a flat piece of metal you put in flat-ways along the face of the palnk and then turn 90 degrees to lock in place might come back out, the type the are basically a spring steel then compresses to install then pops into place over the top of the plank you will probably never be able to work back out.

5) If it will have any weight on it (plant, heavy plaque, etc) install it a bit aside from a nail, then jiggle it sideways until it is close to a nail or screw throug the plank

6) Hardee Plank has (or should have) a special watershield behind each butt joint, so do not install near the end of a plank. Keping towards the center of the planks will also reduce the chance of breaking a plank from the weight.

7) Hardee Plank should have a water barrier installed behind it, so do not use any hook that will stick in further the the thickness of the plank, or your could tear the barrier
