Check out the Home > Roofing link in Browse Projects, at lower left, for lots of info on roofing issues and typical costs. Note that the pricing generally reflects roofs not steeper than 4:12 or 5:12, prices go up for steeper roofs as safety gear has to be used which slows things down - there are some responses on steep roofs also. And of course, almost all the questions relate to normal asphalt shingles, though there are some specifically on metal and tile and slate roofing.


Also, prices do not include replacement/repair of any rotted sheathing or rafters, though unless your roof is really shot, rafters are usually good and you might have to replace at most a sheet or three of sheathing where there was a local leak or ice dam backup over the years. Typcially about $50-100/sheet additional to replace sheathing.
