Depends on the location of the ducts, attic, crawl space, within walls and floors where floor or drywall must be removed to access the ducts.

If in the attic or crawl space, depending on how much space is available to work, $2000.00 to $3500.00 in our area of Florida, using mostly flexible ducts , that are easy to work with. All metal would cost much more.

Why are you considering replacing them? If air leakage, that can be sealed with www.aeroseal.com

Two supplementals to the first answer:

Your space and HVAC system constraints might prevent use of flexible ducts, because they have to be significantly larger than the normal 4-6 inch height of metal ductwork to provide the same resistance to airflow. Increased airflow resistance reduces the flow of heated or cooled air, and a significant increase in resistance can overwork your HVAC system and cause damage from overheating (furnace) or freezing of the evaporator (air conditioning), so be sure you have a certified HVAC specialist assess the system first. Like BayAreaAC, I really wonder why you are replacing them - they usually last 50+ years.

I suspect the $ figure from BayAreaAC is for the duct work only, NOT including repair and repainting of panelling, drywall, etc. that has to be penetrated to install the new ducting.

I'll try to clarify.

"Depends on the location of the ducts, attic, crawl space, within walls and floors where floor or drywall must be removed to access the ducts.

To be clear, the price above is for attic or crawl, where drywall or floors need not be disturbed.

As far as metal versus flex, yes flex will be a little larger , but the labor will be less, particularlly in "tight" working spaces.
