how to expand cabinets

You know how when you forget to measure twice before cutting, that you have to dig out your wood-stretcher to correct the mistake ? Well, just go buy a cabinet stretcher.

I am afraid I don't know exactly what you are talking about - expanding cabinets in depth would essentially require rebuilding them, so I suspect new ones would be cheaper because you would need all new side and bottom and top panels and shelving - leaving basically only the faces intact.

If you mean expanding up to take up an open space over the cabients, or to use space currently blocked by a fake soffit - commonly that is done with different cabinets, like divided-glass faced ones, so the mismatch with the existing cabient finish is not so obvious.

Otherwise, if this is not what you meant, respond back using the Answer This Question button (and can use the leftmost yellow icon above the My Answer box to attach photo(s) if you want) with more details on your situation and we will try to help you.
