Question DetailsAsked on 6/24/2014

how much should the installation and purchaseof an american standard high efficiency 410 A 4 ton split ac sys cost?

i have a quote for removal of an existing 4 ton sys and the installation of the above( new condenser and air handler) (variable speed) with programmable thermostat . i dont know if the cost is reasonable - it seems pretty high at 11,607.

Sounds high to me, especially as American Standard is not a high-end line. Depending on efficiency of course, I would expect a normal mid-range unit to run more like $5000 plus or minus $1000 or two. However, if you currently have central air and are converting to mini-split that could be part of the cost - though not more than maybe $1000-2000 worth depending on whether running interior or exterior refrigerant tubing runs.
