Corian by DuPont makes for some great countertops and cabinets. They are clean, bright, and come in a world of colors. Price wise Corian ranks up there with granite. The difference is you don't lose the shine. Corian can be polished and kept looking like new forever. Stone has a tendency to get cloudy with age. You are looking at about 15,000. Cabinets and countertops are the priciest part of your kitchen makeover. Now if you want to cut some cost consider refacing the cabinets you have and installing new hardware. This can shave thousands off your cost. Since you are upgrading your kitchen think bright, light colors. White cabinets will blend with any type of countertop and add to the value of your home.

If you check the Home > Remodelling - Kitchen and Bath category in Search Projects (at lower left) you will find a number of questions and responses recently onthe question of kitchen cabinet remodelling, costs, etc.

Ber in mind the comment about Corian - it was a fad, but is rapidly becoming passe in favor of true stone and concrete products, so before selecting a specific countertop material I would talk to a Realtor friend about what is detracting from kitchen sales. Ditto regarding Corian and plastic-veneer cabinets versus true wood or painted veneer.
