Question DetailsAsked on 9/2/2014

how much should a rollaway rental dumpster cost per day?

I am moving into a house and anticipate needing a dumpster to haul away several rooms of debris. I'm wondering what to budget for dumpster rental.

Here is a couple of prior questions with answers that should help - of course local costs and dump fees will affect your cost, so call local vendors. Also be sure you have a place to set it that will not interfere with your driving or garage access, and some communities (by code or HOA/Condo Association rules) prohibit putting them in front of your house. One other note - besure they donot drive over septic tank or leach field ddropping it off, and do not set on top of sewer cleanout or water shutoff.

In my area currently runs from as low as $85 for a 5cy dumpster (the kind trash trucks pick up with front forks and dump into truck) with 3 days free sit time to $450 for a 20cy rolloff with 1 week free sit time.

2 hints - watch your weight as if it is overloaded there are penalty fees - sometimes very high if results in overweight road load. Also, be aware the wheels (especially on larger ones) can leave indents in asphalt paving - some companies put down load-distribution pads, others will work with you on setting it downn on plywood you provide. Takes 3/4" plywood to effectively spread the load and minimize indents. Course, that means you have to be there when they drop it off.
