how many service calls before requesting replacement clothes washer?

We have had five service calls to repair a leaking clothes washer. Each time the technician found something to fix, but we still have sporadic leaking. Is it time to request a replacement or refund?

Wow - you are WAY more tolerant than me - I would have sent them packing after the second faillure.

1) I am going to assume this is a manufacturer or distributor rep doing the repairs - like Sears say. I hope this unit is under warranty - if I were you I would demand a full refund of purchase price (plus any repair charges paid to date) and let them take the unit back, then go buy another brand another place - because I would not trust the same brand to not have the same problem, and you certainly have no faith at this point in the repair system from that provider.

2) If out of warranty so you were paying the service charges, I would demand ALL the repair charges be refunded because they failed to fix the problem, then go find a competent appliance repairman or get a new washer, depending on where the leak is from. If from hose/hose connection/pump area I would probably fix it unless quite old (over 10-15 years) or very cheap unit - if coming from up in the upper motor/ transmission/ housing/ tub area then I would probably write it off, because leaks in those areas can be pricey to find and fix - basically you have to totally disassemble the whole machine into individual pieces to track down the leak source, which could be main shaft seal, tub seal, a pinhole in the tub, splash leakage escaping around the top of the tub liner or through a door switch opening or such.
