For a plain jane top-load model with 3 cycles and 3 load size settings and 3 agitation settings, which is about all anyone would ever need, with mechanical timer and zero elecronics (which avoids the extremely expensive failures and continual electronics glitches and defective parts of the electronic junk being sold these days), about $475-600 depending on whether you catch them on sale or not. BIG sale weekend coming up - Labor Day - most big stores have fantastic discounts - Sears just sent me a coupon good for 30% or ANY appliance, and 50% of many of the cheaper ones. You are not likely to get as good prices till New Years White and Appliance sales.

Have you checked out appliance stores that sell scratch and dent merchandise? There is absolutely nothing wrong with the mechanics of the appliance. It might just have a little ding that prevents it from "LOOKING" perfect. Generally you can see major mark downs in price when you travel this road.

$599.00

I am in the market right now, and I scour the internet for prices. Then go to a retailer I like (usually local because I like to support local business) and ask them to match. They tend to do it. I also go to the library and look through the latest consumer report article where they rate the machines. The best buy they rated from December 2013 is the Whirlpool Duet WFW 70HEBW. Sears has it for $599.00 that's the lowest I could fine.
