is it ever advisable to give a home imp cont up-front money. it is rated A on your site and a by bbb. in busi since 90. no bad reviews

i am planning a major remodel of master bath and bedroom. one contractor wants 50% of the money up front, when the contract is signed. he is rated a on yur list & a+ by the bbb. he has been in business since 1990 and as far as i can tell has no neg. reviews. is it ever advisable to pay anything before any work has been done?

In the state of CA, the contractor can only ask for material cost up front. and I think +10%. As an HVAC contractor I can only request a deposit of $1000 to begin work.


Itis customary to give some type of good faith deposit before starting ajob. If you do not have trust in thecontractor you have chosen go get another one and remember trust is a two waystreet.
