Question DetailsAsked on 6/12/2014

is a medical review confidential?

I'd like to share my experience, however I don't want my opinions to be given to the office of a doctor who has caused me unnecessary problems, I.
My claim appeal to correct their error has almost been successfully re-processed by my insurance company - but not yet. It's taken 8 months so far.

Complex question - because info you provide in an insurance claim is subject to HIPPA, BUT if necessary to the processing of the claim then can be shared by insurance company with subcontractors, investigators, AND with doctor's office as necessary to resolve the claim.

Only way to truly keep confidential from all is to work through an Attorney who works through THEIR attorney, marking all confidential documetns as client-attorney priviledged - and even then anything that goes to them is subject to disclosure under HIPPA.

Anything you put on this site is certainly NOT confidential, so bad idea to share any info if currently under review or potential litigation, or you don't want doctor to possibly google it.
