is there a standardized warranty for purebred dogs with genetic defects purchased from legitimate breeders?

There are no 'standard' warranties issued by breeders. Some states have laws governing a limited time warranty. It is up to the buyer to ask for a warranty for genetic defects like loose patellas, hip dysplasia, liver shunt ( and that is one that is hard to prove), cherry eye, etc.

NYS has a lemon law and other states do too. Check with your state.
