Below is a link to a response I recently gave to another person about this type of problem - ASSUMING you are talking ALL hot water in the house, not just at one location. If just at one location, then likely an isolated problem with that faucet, a blocked branch pipe to that faucet, if a single-handle tub/shower then possibly a problem in the mixer in the faucet - or if only at a sink/basin, possibly a problem in the faucet mechanism but most often a blocked screen at the end ofthe spogot - commonly can be unscrewed and washed out. Ditto for shower heads.

If a sudden (in a day or two) case and you have not had brown water coming out, then blocked pipe isprobably least likely cause.

If you want to describe your situation, exactly where and how it happens, whether you have full flow and then drops off or low flow all the time, and brand (if known) and of faucet (two handle, single handle, etc) you can reply back using the Answer This Question button right below your question, and I will try to be more specific about likely causes.
