Could be a lot of things - my considered opinion is its broke and needs a Heating and A/C (your Search the List category) tech to look at it. Could be a controller, relay, electrical wiring flaw, overtemp switch cut out, compressor motor/capacitor problem, just lots of things - and without an on-site diagnosis not possible to say what it will cost other than to say probably about $70 or more - because that is a common range for a minimum service-call charge.

One thing to check before calling - make sure your thermostat battery is not dead, because many if not most models shut down when the battery dies, so that is a quick and easy way to save money if that is the case. However, since it is blowing warm air that probably is not the case, especially if the fan is turning onand ovv over the course of the day.

If battery is not the issue, turn off power to the unit so it does not damage itself.
