When is leak detecting required by the EPA

When the AC system holds more then 50 lbs of refrigerant. Basicaly lerge commercial AC systems.

Correct. Its not required at all for residential systems. If its happening every year though the right thing to do is search for the leak and repair it if possible but a lot of the time it can take years for a system to leak down so it is not nessesary.

Our company has a policy that leak searches MUST be done if the system is found low on freon within 90 days of freon being added. Anything outside of that its on a case by case basis.
