Most stair squeaks are caused by the stair tread rubbing up and down against the riser board as foot traffic causes the treads to deflect.
The easiest fix is to drive small nails through the bottom edge of the riser board into the stair tread. It's kind of tricky to do this without splitting the bottom of the riser board. You can also try a big bead of construction adhesive along the point where the riser boards meet the treads. A little metal angle bracket, or a series of them along the length of the tread/riser could help too.

I would strongly suggest calling a NARI certified carpenter before you drive nails into your stair treads. A carpenter will adequetly identify the specific problem and be able to get the work done professionally. Ask friends & neighbors for a good referral.
