Question DetailsAsked on 1/4/2012

what is the approx cost of extending one counter out further to change size of kitchen?

our kitchen is very small---we would like to extend one countertop--group of cablinets -- out further and add a little cabinet space--maybe two feet so there is more room in there to work. Thanks, Susan Gallicchio

Will you require custom cabinets or are there pre-fabricated units that match your current design available? What type of counter top do you have/want? Is this extension against a wall or will it be free floating in a space requiring finishing of the back of the cabinet? What type of flooring do you have? If it is not tile or some other solid surface adhered to the foundation/sub-floor it will have to be removed in the area of the new cabinet. Are the current cabinets & wall(s) square where you wish to place the new cabinet and top? There are many factors to consider so there isn't a straight forward answer with the information you've provided.

You'd do best to have a few contractors visit your home for estimates and compare that way so that everything necessary can be taken into consideration.
