what is the best one coat paint to paint over a dark color

my kitchen is mustard yellow wat to paint it white

Here is an answer I gave to basically the same question some time ago - though I VERY seriously doubt - in fact would bet 10:1 against you being able to one-coat cover mustard yellow with white. MAYBE a very good painter painting by hand with horsehair brush, but I would pretty much guarantee you will get show-through to tinging (a yellowish caste to the white) at least, especially if painting with anything but a high gloss finish. I would plan on two-coating it - and for normal kitchen finish coat paint (semi-gloss or gloss commonly) to get good adhesion and resistance to cleaning, the first coat is going to have to be a hiding primer (meaning it has a "hide" or skin to it, not that it "hides the underlying color - though that will be the end result) rather than a hideless drywall type primer, then the finish coat after the primer is thoroughly dry.
