Question DetailsAsked on 2/19/2012

where can I buy cheap, used paneling. I've already checked Habitat. no luck.

I need some type wall covering - like paneling - for an old hunting cabin.
Habitat Restore NEVER has them. HELP!

It's rare to see used paneling for sale because it takes up so much floor space and can't be sold for much. Also, rarely will someone take the time to carefully remove it becasue it's really not worth their hassle. If you have a little time to wait you can post a wanted ad on Craigslist and even offer to remove it in exchange for the paneling pieces. Contractors like free labor but they may make you sign an accident release waiver.

I've seen a lot of people use 1/4" OSB panels in cabins and it actually turns out nice. They are usually under $5 each. In Texas we have a lumber company called McCoy's Building Supply that sells cull lumber and other damaged products regularly. They will haggle to get it gone too. See what local companies you have and call to ask if they have any damaged plywood or other sheet products you could use. You may have more seems and more labor to put them up but you can save material cost.
