Question DetailsAsked on 1/22/2016

where can I sell or donate old light fixtures, fans, drapes?

Just remodeled our home, and we have a number of chandeliers, fixtures, window treatments etc. that are still in fine shape (only 10 years old). Would be a shame to just throw them out.

Check to see if you have a Habitat for Humanity in your area. Many have a Re-Store that resells such items.

Also - at least for the fixtures/hardware, contact local charity that has a used good store - depending on locale, common ones are Goodwill Industries, Salvation Army, Catholic Social Services, The ARC (help association for intellectually/developmentally disabled), some local churches. If donating drapes be sure to pin a tag on each with its dimensions when hanging (not full flat-out dimension, the actual area it covers with normal pleats, etc) - and if you are getting rid of the rods and hangers also bundle them together as a set with the curtain rod total length dimension noted also.

Other possible places - church or charitable organization charity bazaar, if they want light fixtures and drapes.

For other possibilities, call local United Way office - they should be able to guide you to local non-profit organizations that can use or sell them.
