I represent Tri-Pane Installations, Inc. in New York. I dont want to say anything bad about certantied but I will say we have been using charter oak exclusively for many years and we never had a problem.

I am more inclined to use Certainteed products but have used many others. To me most of the problems with any siding or for that matter builing products are the installer or contractor you use. You can take the best product made and unless it is installed correctly the manufacturer will not stand behind it if not put on correctly! I would say that when the switch to vinyl from aluminum you question might have some value, but now as long as it is a major producer of siding I think they are close. The major players in the field all learn from each other. Short and sweet I would go with the installer you feel you can work with unless the choice of colors or profiles is what the difference is, then ask the contractor if he can get the product you prefer.

I have used pretty much every pannel out there at one time or another, and I preffer Alside Charter Oak. They are the only siding manufacturer that has the fiberglass trifused pannel that maintains the rigidity of the pannel. If I had to reside my home I would use Alside Charter Oak. Ask your rep about the drop in full back insulation as well. It will be more money but it really will make a difference.
Best of luck with your project
