who can i get to clean mortar off brick steps

i had brick steps built on my back porch and the mortar was not cleaned. it is slick red common brick and looks terrible with mortar all over them. my zip code is 27804

Here is a previous response to a question on doing it yourself - but if using muriatic acid (bought at pool supply houses and some concrete supply places) be careful - it is a fairly strong acid and deadly to eyes if splashed, at a minimum.

If this was recent work, I would call the contractor back to clean it up - should have been sponged clean after the mortar had set for about a quarter hour to half hour after surface completion, before it set on the brick but after the joint mortar started to set so you do not wipe it off in the process. Then the mortar "haze" should have been sponged up before the haze dried if using water, or if using acid then as part of final cleanup - the same day. A brick job should have nice clean, good-as-new brick appearance (unless you used distressed or recycled brick for the look, of course).
